Prerequisites: All applicants must have a high school diploma. Non-native English speakers must also have a TOEFL iBT score ≥ 100or a TOEFL CBT score ≥ 250 or an IELTS score of Academic Band ≥ 7.

inlingua® Washington DC offers a 140-hour Intensive TEFL Certificate with a teaching practicum. After 26 years of language instruction, inlingua® Washington DC has fine-tuned the art of language teaching with its own communicative inlingua Method. The intensive TEFL certificate enables successful teachers to travel around the world, teach English in all types of learning environments, and obtain the credentials and the know-how to succeed.
This certificate prepares students and residents who want to teach ESL/EFL in the United States or abroad at the post-secondary level. Candidates can register for both classes or take them one-on-one, over a two-month period. All TEFL classes are open to F-1 students. Non-native speakers of English may be required to have an oral interview prior to the class as part of the application process to assure a strong oral ability.(Please check with prospective employers for additional information about their hiring requirements).
These courses include a thorough overview of the English language including grammar, parts of speech, vocabulary, idioms, and listening and fluency. Candidates will learn how to teach the English language through various techniques and methodologies, all of which can be applied to all aspects of language learning. After successful completion of this course, teachers will have the confidence and the know-how to teach all levels and backgrounds.
